4-12-16 – XLA Launches New Website!

4-12-16 – XLA Launches New Website! XLA employees gathered April 12th, at the Kipton Hotel Monaco Washington D.C. in celebration of our brand new website!

The unveiling of the website included a social event with hors d’oeuvres as well as a presentation by our CEO, Gary Slack. XLA is proud to offer a more user friendly website where you are never more than two clicks away from your destination. The new website includes case studies and solutions which are high-quality, agile and cost effective solutions in response to client challenges. The website also has a tab for our “Gives Back” program, which includes pictures and a summary of our philanthropy events. Other sections will include contracts, an employee portal, insights (which will be our brand new blog), and much more! We are thrilled about our new website launch and the step forward we are taking. Please send us your feedback!

4-8-16 – XLA Lends-A-Hand Kicks off First CAFB Event – Friday, April 8th

XLA Lends-A-Hand kicked off their first volunteer event last Friday, April 8th at the DC Capital Area Food Bank

Twelve XLA volunteers sorted through 6,000 lbs. of items donated by the community in under 2 hours, great work team! At the end of the event, volunteers were educated about the low donation amounts during the Spring and Summer months. The CAFB receives an influx of donations during the Winter months when food drives are more abundant. It is during the warmer times of the year that the CAFB struggles the most to keep pantry items stocked and meal service programs running. XLA urges our employees to give back by donating unopened, nonperishable food items to either the DC or NOVA CAFB Warehouses.

3-1-16 – XLA 2016 Lends-A-Hand Schedule

XLA strives to make a positive impact in the communities in which our employees live and work

Since our employees play a critical role in our volunteer initiatives, we strive to focus on volunteer opportunities in areas of service that are both important to them and the organization.  In 2016, XLA Lends-A-Hand will be participating with the following organizations: Capital Area Food Bank, KEEN Greater DC, and the USO.

Through volunteer hours and monetary contributions, XLA is able to support the more than 530,700 individuals in the Washington DC Metro area that turn to the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) for pantry items and meal service programs.  XLA will continue to volunteer in warehouse shift hours and virtual food drives to aid the CAFB in their continued efforts in combating hunger in our community.  Some of our upcoming volunteer opportunities for the CAFB include:

  • DC Capital Area Food Bank – Friday, April 8th
  • Take a Byte Out of Hunger – Month of November

KEEN is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower youth with disability by providing free, non-competitive, one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness and fun led by volunteers.  With XLA’s volunteer hours and monetary contributions, KEEN Greater DC is able to serve children, teens, and young adults with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other disabilities.  There are a variety of ways to support KEEN, and we look forward to seeing many of you at one of the events later this year:

  • KEEN Golf Classic – Monday, May 16th
  • KEEN Fund-an-Athlete – Month of October

The USO is dedicated to “serving those who serve, and their families”.  XLA employees come together to pack for service members, wounded ill and injured troops, their families and caregivers in our area.  Packages include items desired most by these members and are provided to them through the USO’s Warrior and Family Centers.  Join us at an upcoming volunteer opportunity for the USO:

  • USO Pack 4 Troops – Friday, July 15th
  • USO Pack 4 Troops – Friday, December 9th
